Velcro Fabric Graphics

What is a Velcro Fabric Graphic?

Velcro has been around a very long for good reason, and it is still a go-to application method. The Velcro adhesive system works by one side having a rows upon rows of 'hook' fibers, shaped like a candy cane, that adhere to the opposing side which is covered in 'loop' fibers that are each shaped like a horseshoe. When pressed together, the hooks with grab the loops and a very strong bond is formed. This type of application works very well with fabric graphics because of it's reliable strength and it's ease and efficiency in being applied and adjusted as necessary. Most Velcro fabric graphics will have a 1-2" strip of Velcro sewn into the edge, and a majority of these graphics actually remain on the displays themselves during shipment. The ease-of-application, strength, and pattern of non-removal for similar displays makes Velcro fabric graphic displays some of the most popular in the industry.

Our Velcro fabric graphics come with the same, dependable quality that is known throughout all of our options, boasting the highest-definition resolution on the best tension fabric available today. The graphics fold easily for storage, and, like all fabric graphics, these save quite a bit in shipping space and weight.

What are the benefits of Velcro Graphics?

  • Graphic Stays On: Velcro graphics are often left on the display, making these the most convenient graphic type
  • Superior Fabric: The fabric is from only highest quality vendors
  • Quality: The fabric undergoes a painstaking pre-inspection process before printing.

Velcro Fabric Graphics are known for their ease-of-use because of the pattern of being left on the displays. To expand on this, many of the displays that use Velcro graphics have frames that support the bulk of the graphics during storage, and set up with a process that eliminates wrinkles upon completion; many of these frames consist of an 'accordion' design that is familiar within PopUps, such as the popular VBurst display.

With this display, the user simply collapses the frame halfway, tucks the bulk into each corresponding void to ensure there is no pinching of the graphic or skewing of the frame, and then finishes the rest of the takedown. Steamers can be a life saver for any graphic, so it's always recommended that one is available, but, like with all of the tension fabric graphics, it shouldn't be necessary if the display is stored properly.

What is a Tension Fabric Graphic?

Tension fabric graphics are the leading style in fabric graphics, allowing for the highest definition image to be printed on a fabric that becomes taut on your desired frame. They are installed "under tension", an engineering term that means they are stretched tight, which helps to eliminate wrinkles. These graphics are typically ready-to-use at all times and require little maintenance, especially from steamers (only required for improper and cramped storage situations). Some of these graphics will install using an edge attachment such as SEG or Velcro system, and others simply wrap over the structure. Tension fabric graphics are the most popular form of graphics due to their storability, shipping weight, and reliability.  Learn More

How do you install a new Velcro Fabric Graphic?

1. Expand the Accordion Frame

The first step to the most common application of Velcro Graphics (a PopUp frame) is to expand the frame completely, locking at least a few of the hooks on the back of the display to ensure it stays taut.

2. Lay the Frame down on a Clean Surface

It's important to protect your investment in the graphic, so take time to ensure that the surface below the frame is either as clean as possible or covered in a safe, clean drop cloth or other material. Then, lay the frame down to be flat on it's back with the front facing skyward.

3. Orient the Graphic and the Frame

Next, you need to be sure to line the graphic properly on the frame so that it can remain there for as long as possible (since Velcro graphics can primarily be left on the frame). With 2+ people, float the graphic over the top of the frame and slowly lower it to test the alignment, taking in consideration the side panels that will fold over the edge.

4. Apply the Graphic

Now that you have positioned the graphic properly over the clean frame below, lower the graphic and test the positioning by folding one edge of and seeing that it meets the corner properly. Once this is done, the person with the applied corner will snake the edge of the Velcro Fabric Graphic along the entire edge adjacent to that corner while the second person simply holds their side up and away from the frame (if too much Velcro adheres while still positioning the graphic it will make this much more difficult). Next, apply the opposing edge that the second person was holding before finishing the third and fourth edges.

What is the standard turnaround time for Velcro Fabric Graphics?

Typical turnaround time is per customer request. Larger jobs require more production time and should be scheduled accordingly.

How are Velcro Fabric Graphics shipped?

Most Velcro fabric graphics are shipped installed on your PopUp or other velcro-receptive frame, making this incredibly convenient and show-ready. They are available to be shipped in a folded position within a thick, sealed plastic bag. It is recommended that you keep this plastic bag for future use in storing the graphic between each event. This is how all new, replacement Velcro Fabric Graphics ship.

What are the size limits of Velcro Fabric Graphics?

  • The maximum size (width without a seam) of a tension fabric graphic is about 118” (117” visual).
  • Larger seamed graphics are available.

How does Velcro Fabric Graphic quality compare to other materials?

All of our Tension Fabric Graphics are comparable in their stunning, high-quality resolution and clarity. Dye sublimation equipment is more advanced than ever offering near continuous tone (limited by the texture of the material you choose) and exceptional detail created from high DPI outputs and sophisticated image patterns. Color is permanently dyed into the fabric creating a deeply saturated image with vibrant colors.

How should you care for your fabric graphic?

It is recommended that silicone edge graphics be folded and stored in a bag. You may spot clean by wiping with a damp cloth. If it is necessary to wash the graphic and it is small enough, use a commercial size front-loading washing machine. Wash on the gentle cycle, with cool water. Dry cleaning is NOT recommended.

To limit getting the graphic dirty during installation, keep the set-up area clean by using a drop cloth and wash your hands prior to setup. You may want to consider purchasing inexpensive white cotton gloves. Wearing the gloves while handling the graphic will minimize the transfer of dirt and oils to your graphic.
