1. It attracts young professionals.
2. It’s a greener marketing strategy.
3. It engages trade show goers.
4. Interactive digital signage can serve double (and triple) duty.
Here are four trade show booth ideas for ways to incorporate interactive digital media into your display.
1. Virtual tours
2. Demonstration/Simulation
3. Games
4. Creativity Stations

TL;DR: I recently read an interesting article on listicles, the use of a list as an article, and decided to try it out on our blog. For those that prefer the full meal deal, not just the list, here is the original article, with all of the missing words. I’d appreciate any feedback you care to share on the use of a listicle!

While considering your trade show booth designs, don’t overlook the value of interactive digital signage. A well crafted video is a boost to any trade show display; however incorporating activities on iPads and other interactive digital signage and displays gives your booth standout appeal.
There are several benefits of incorporating digital signage into your trade show display. Here are four:
1. It attracts young professionals.
The workforce is increasingly electronic, especially among younger professionals. Colleagues and consumers accustomed to having endless streams of information packaged and accessible via pocket-sized touch screens, may be less inclined to flip through a leaflet.
2. It’s a greener marketing strategy.
Many industries are in the midst of paperless initiatives. Depending on the content and function of your displays, you may be able to significantly reduce the number of printed fliers and brochures you use.
3. It engages trade show goers.
A difficult truth is that some trade show attendees are more comfortable interacting with a screen than engaging in direct conversation about your products and services. They may favor booths that allow them the chance to explore ideas independently.
However, it is also a benefit to those trade show goers who do want to talk. When your trade show booth is busy and you are engaged in conversation with other visitors, interactive digital signage and displays give those waiting something to do until you’re free to answer questions. Without an engaging self-directed activity, some visitors may get tired of waiting and leave.
4. Interactive media can serve double (and triple) duty.
One particularly nice thing about many multimedia display elements is that they can be repurposed across multiple formats. A video or game that is used at the trade show booth may also be posted to your organization’s website and rebroadcast across social media channels. Not only do those who may have missed the trade show get the same information, but seeing it again may also serve as an important memory trigger for those who visited your booth.
Whether you’re setting up iPad kiosks or using other interactive technology, a successful display needs to be used creatively. Here are some trade show booth ideas for incorporating interactive digital signage into your trade show display.
1. Virtual tours
A virtual tour could be a walk-through of your services and products–an introduction to your organization. To maximize engagement, keep wording sparse in favor of colors, graphics, music, and user interaction opportunities.
A virtual tour could also be a cyber tour of your facilities. If you make shoes, perhaps it’s a tour of the shoe factory. If you produce food, perhaps it’s a tour of the family farm where ingredients are grown. Step outside the box and look for the interesting angle.
2. Demonstration/Simulation
If it’s appropriate, your digital media station may provide visitors the chance to see your product or service in action. If you design software, for instance, set up a station where attendees can actually use it.
Perhaps visitors could interact with software that you use when providing services. For example, if you’re a designer or animator, give attendees the opportunity to experiment with the same programs you use.
3. Games
Games could be industry-related trivia games. Link prizes to correct answers. These could also be games for pure entertainment. For example, Wii bowling tournaments or Guitar Hero performances. Although such games may not be directly related to your products and services, they do increase visits to your booth, start a buzz, and create fun associations with your organization. Link prizes to these games as well. Perhaps top score at the top of every hour wins.
4. Creativity Stations
Engage visitors with an opportunity to create something at your booth. Invite attendees to make iPad drawings. Drawings may relate to your organization or they could be “self-portraits.” Offer a prize for every piece of art created. Save all visitor drawings and plug them into a slide show. The slide show could play on loop during the trade show. Later, you could also publish the slide show on your website and invite voting for additional prizes.
All in all, interactive digital media displays offer a great opportunity to use your imagination, engage visitors, and boost traffic through your trade show booth. Take advantage of the opportunity to leverage your trade show marketing ROI!
